Let's talk about you.
Let's have a conversation about the things in your life that are important to you. Everyone deserves the opportunity to talk to a financial professional about ways to plan for their financial future. I've worked with many people in my previous jobs, that went through life without a plan, only to see them struggle in their golden years. This is your life, and my goal is to help the people in my community live the life that they worked hard for. Whether you're struggling to stretch every dollar, living a life of abundance or anywhere in between, let's talk and have a plan.

About Joshua Theisen
I'm proud to be a dad, a husband, a Christian, and Thrivent financial professional. As a dad and husband, I understand the value of prioritizing and protecting my family.
I was raised on a family dairy farm in a small town in Eastern Iowa. I spent much of my working years doing hard physical labor in the factories and trades, trying to support my family, by stretching every dollar and working long hours.
My goal as a financial professional, is to help as many people as I can navigate the complex world of insurance and finance to help families achieve the things that are important to them.
I proudly live and serve the Eastern Iowa area (Dubuque, Maquoketa, DeWitt and surrounding towns). I am licensed in other states and I offer virtual meetings to accommodate you, wherever you're located.

My family
My wife Jamie and I have raised 5 kids. Ty (25) is living in Kansas, Emma (22) is living in Florida, April (17) is a senior in high school, Ruby (13) is in 7th grade and Nic (11) is in 6th grade. Yes, there was a point in life when we had teenagers and kids in diapers at the same time. I don't recommend doing that! We made it through together.

Volunteering and activities in my community
I volunteer at my local YMCA to coach my kid's soccer and volleyball teams. I'm a member of an organization called the Parent Lighthouse committee for a small school in Andrew, IA that focuses on fundraising efforts to help support teachers and the school. I host a euchre league at the Maquoketa Brewery and participate in their trivia nights every month. I frequently attend fundraising events for local fire departments in the area and attend Salem Lutheran church in Andrew, IA. I do league bowling at Timber Lanes in Maquoketa. I thoroughly enjoy meeting people in my area and look for ways to be involved in community events as they come up.

Military family life
We are a first-generation military family. Our oldest son joined the Army as a Chinook Maintainer, 15U, in June 2018. He did his BCT at Fort Jackson in South Carolina and went straight to Ft Eutsis Virginia for AIT. From his AIT graduation we put him on a plane to his first duty station, Seoul, South Korea. He was there for a year and came back right as COVID was starting in the U.S. Luckily, we were able to get to Kansas and spend a weekend with him before things shut down. That same year he had his first Germany rotation for 9 months (but due to COVID and having to quarantine at every move, it was about a year). He has recently returned from his second 9-month rotation in Germany fall of 2024. He has reenlisted for another 4 years and currently stationed at Ft. Riley in Kansas.

My First Thrivent Action Team
I used my first Thrivent Action Team to assist the Bernard Playground and Recreation Project committee to raise money for new playground equipment in the town park. I donated burgers and hotdogs to be sold at the concession stand and volunteered my time to grill during the event. My volunteers helped in the concession stand, beer garden, raffle drawings and others assisted with clean-up and other errands. During the event, there was two local heroes softball games that included teams from the Centralia-Peosta Fire Department, Cascade Volunteer Fire Department, Bernard Fire and Rescue Department and the Legendary Ghost Players that I got a picture with. There was even live music and a movie in park in the evening showing The Sandlot. I really enjoyed this event and look forward to doing more Action Teams and assisting my clients in theirs.

Charitable Giving and Fundraising
One of the local charities that I'm proud to support is My GEAR Outreach. My G.E.A.R. Outreach is a non-profit organization committed to bringing comfort and hope to children (0-18 years of age) during the tough transition of entering foster care for the first time. They carry out this mission by providing welcome boxes and first overnight bags to meet their basic needs. No child should be entering foster care for the first time with their belongings in a garbage bag.
