About Victor Barton
Many of the individuals and families I work with have done well financially, yet still approach retirement with unanswered questions. They’ve accumulated assets, lived responsibly, and now want clarity—before making decisions that shape the next phase of their lives.
My role is to help bring structure and perspective to those questions. I work with people nearing retirement who want to understand where they stand, what their options truly are, and how to move forward with confidence and intention.
In addition to retirement and investment planning, I specialize in tax-aware strategies and thoughtful charitable planning for clients who want their wealth to support both their lifestyle and the causes that matter to them. I also provide comprehensive financial planning—including investment management, insurance, and ongoing guidance—so each part of your financial life works together cohesively.
Personal Snapshot
I’m a Dallas native and a graduate of St. Mark’s School of Texas. I value thoughtful decision-making, long-term perspective, and the importance of personal connection—principles that guide both my work and the relationships with my clients.
Outside of the office, I enjoy discovering new restaurants, following local sports, and spending time within the Dallas community. Many evenings still find me working—not out of obligation, but because I genuinely enjoy helping clients navigate complex financial decisions with confidence.
My Approach
The work begins with understanding—not assumptions.
Our initial conversations are designed to clarify your current position and define what matters most to you going forward. From there, we develop a clear, thoughtful roadmap that reflects your goals, values, and priorities.
Whether you’re assessing retirement readiness, evaluating investment decisions, or considering how taxes and charitable giving fit into your broader picture, my approach emphasizes clarity before action. You’ll understand your choices and their implications—without pressure—so decisions feel deliberate rather than reactive.
My Commitment
My commitment is to provide guidance that is steady, objective, and aligned with your long-term interests. That means helping you think strategically about retirement income, investment structure, tax efficiency, and charitable impact—while ensuring the decisions you make today support the life you want tomorrow. I prioritize thoughtful planning, clear communication, and a relationship built on trust and perspective.
Your Direct Team
Paige Schaeffer works closely alongside Victor Barton to help create a thoughtful, organized, and supportive experience for every client relationship. Her role is centered on clear communication, attention to detail, and ensuring that each step of the planning process feels smooth and well-guided. By staying closely connected to clients’ needs and priorities, Paige helps bring consistency and care to every interaction—so families feel confident and supported throughout their financial journey.
Outside of the office, Paige lives in Uptown Dallas and enjoys staying active in the community. She can often be found on the golf course, at the gym, or exploring new restaurants and local spots around the city. She brings that same energy and enthusiasm into her work each day, believing that strong relationships, genuine care, and clear communication are at the heart of meaningful financial guidance.
Connected Through the La Jolla Gateway Team
Being part of the La Jolla Gateway Team allows our Allen, Texas practice to draw from the strength, experience, and shared perspective of a broader network of professionals. With decades of combined guidance across planning, investment strategy, and client care, this collaboration ensures that each client benefits not only from individual insight, but from the collective wisdom of a unified team.
This connection creates continuity and depth in the advice we provide. While every client relationship remains personal and locally focused, the support of the broader Gateway team enhances our ability to serve thoughtfully, respond intentionally, and remain aligned with long-term financial clarity and purpose. It reflects a shared commitment to stewardship, service, and meaningful impact in the lives of the individuals and families we walk alongside.

Making an Impact Together
Generosity is central to both Thrivent’s mission and my work with clients. I help individuals and families explore how charitable giving can be integrated into their broader financial plan in a way that is intentional, strategic, and sustainable.
When structured thoughtfully, your resources can support your own financial goals while also creating lasting impact for the people and organizations you care about most.
Supporting Causes You Care About
Charitable giving is often an important consideration for the individuals and families I work with. Many want to give generously but are unsure how to do so in a way that is both meaningful and tax-efficient.
Through Thrivent Action Teams, clients also have access to $500 in seed money to support local charities and service projects. I enjoy helping clients thoughtfully incorporate these opportunities—whether supporting a church initiative, a community nonprofit, or a cause close to home.
Why Thrivent
I work with Thrivent, a Fortune 500 diversified financial services organization with more than a century of experience serving individuals and families. As a not-for-profit financial services organization, Thrivent is focused on people—not shareholders.
This structure allows me to provide advice supported by a strong, stable firm that values long-term relationships, financial clarity, and community impact.
