Week 8 - February - Downsize your spending. It's easy to get overwhelmed when trying to downsize your budget. Where do you start and what gets cut? Start simple by cutting down 10% on one of your expenses. Think about buying coffee. Can you go down to two days a week? Maybe three? Start with one and see how it goes! ⬇️ Hi, I'm Vanessa. I'm a Marine Veteran and a Thrivent Advisor. I help individuals at every stage of life define and achieve their goals, whether they're just starting their financial journey or preparing for retirement. The more we understand our objectives and align them with our values, the stronger we become as partners, parents, business owners, leaders, and neighbors. A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending this year's Thrivent Business Development Conference and, holy cow, was it inspiring! I met so many amazing people and sat through some enlightening talks. Here are some of the top things that stuck with me: ✅ There's a difference between being ready and being prepared. Always strive to be prepared. ✅ Be unwavering in your mission, vision, and values. This will allow you to adapt your ways and means in life. ✅ Be human! Strive for genuine connections. Learn how to learn. ✅ Do one more thing, one more time (especially the more difficult things). If you could pick one of these lessons to apply immediately, what would it be? Why? ⬇️ Hi, I'm Vanessa. Week 7 - February - Automate your life! One of the most useful things you can do to help build your safety net is to set up an auto-transfer. It seems so simple, but it frees your mind up to thing about all the others important things in your life, like being with family. Many of you auto-pay your bills so why not auto-pay yourself? ⬇️ Hi, I'm Vanessa. I'm a Marine Veteran and a Thrivent Advisor. Interest rates are shifting. Understanding the purpose and timeline of your cash can help you decide whether and how to invest it for optimal returns. Ask yourself two questions. ⬇️ See thrivent.com/social for important disclosures.

Week 6 - February - Build a Saving Habit! On average, it can take up to 66 days of repeating something for it to become a habit and another 66 days to break a habit if we are intentional. This week I challenge you to stop spending money on those cute lattes and start saving that money to create a habit. You can do this! It's only 66 days! ⬇️ Hi, I'm Vanessa. Week 5 - February - Build Your Safety Net! There are so many things I can say about this picture but let's talk about it with respect to emergency funds. Checking in with your fund regularly is super important. Life changes can necessitate needing more in your fund than you had previously. Maybe you have a child that has taken up a new hobby (maybe you took up a new hobby). Either way you want to have enough in there to cover the unexpected. Check in with your fund this week. If you don't have one, open one! You can do it with small intentional steps. ⬇️ Hi, I'm Vanessa. I'm a Marine Veteran and a Thrivent Advisor.
