Who is Sommer personally?
From Farm Roots to Core Values
A farm girl from Grandin, North Dakota raised by parents who believed in hard work, supporting their community, and helping others. The values they instilled in my brothers and I have helped shape us into the people we are today. I will forever be grateful for how they raised us.
Concordia College Alumna
I attended Concordia College in Moorhead, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications & Public Relations. While I was at Concordia, I enjoyed playing basketball for 1 year and running on the Track & Field team for 3 years. Roll Cobbs!
Family, Faith, and Fun
I am married to a Farmer and Entrepreneur who had the same values of hard work instilled into him by his parents. Our daughter keeps us on our toes with her activities and social calendar and we can’t forget about Kongo, our dog, who we fell in love with the minute we saw him at Homeward Animal Shelter. We enjoy lake time, spending time with friends and family, downhill skiing, and time at the cabin in the woods. We are members of Christ the King and we reside in Moorhead, MN.
Professional Journey
Most of my professional career has been spent in the sports industry working for USHL hockey teams, at the Ralph Engelstad Arena and for the Fargo Youth Hockey Association. I have always had the dream of starting my own business. That dream brought me to Thrivent. I’m passionate about helping people and making a difference.
Passion and Purpose
At Thrivent, I can walk alongside my clients to help them achieve financial clarity and achieve their financial goals. I’m also able to chase my dream of starting my own business by being supported by a team of people who truly care not only about me but the people we serve. Our clients are our number one priority.
