Do you believe in miracles? YES! That famous line from Al Michaels during the 1980 Olympic hockey game took on new meaning for me after what I experienced a few weeks ago at Crossroads Church. Simply put, I believe I was healed. The backstory: I injured my left knee during a basketball game in my freshman year of high school. I was tripped, fell awkwardly while holding the ball, and all my weight came down on my knee. I missed the rest of the season and, if we’d had the means, likely would have seen a doctor or needed surgery. From that point on, my knee was unstable. It would reinjure easily, especially during basketball or sand volleyball. While the pain wasn’t constant, playing too long would leave me limping, and at times you could even hear my knee clicking as I walked. I relied on a brace and avoided hard surfaces as much as possible. That changed on Tuesday night. I didn’t go to church seeking healing for myself. I went to support my wife and pray for her healing, which I still deeply desire. After praying over her, she encouraged me to be prayed for as well. During the prayer, I felt warmth in my knee and sensed God’s presence in the room, but I didn’t think much of it since I wasn’t in pain at the time. Then we went to Florida—and I played pickleball. A lot. In the past, playing that much would have left me hobbling. This time, I played every day for at least two hours with no pain at all. No limping. Nothing. Even now, part of me can hardly believe it. Why was I healed and not my wife or others? I don’t know, and I may never fully understand. I would have gladly given up my healing for someone else who is struggling more than I was. What I do know is this: God heals. God restores. God listens. Prayer works. And my faith has grown. My hope is to pray more boldly and believe that miracles and healing are available to far more people than just me on a Tuesday night.

Count your blessings, name them one by one! I remember hearing that chorus in church growing up and frankly have all too often taken for granted things in life and one of those things was hot water. On Friday we came home to a failed water heater. But we are grateful even in this trial and bad surprise. We caught it soon enough to not have 40 gallons of water in our basement. We had most of the items in our basement off the floor, so nothing really got destroyed just wet. We had friends close by and a gym with hot showers to use until our new water heater got installed. We had the savings there to not feel a financial burden with this unexpected expense. We got a new one (and a tankless) installed quickly and have hot water again! What I took for granted was how important hot water is. We couldn't use our laundry. We couldn't wash dishes or use our dishwasher. We had to just wait and be patient. When I took a hot shower at home, I never experienced so much happiness having hot water again! I may never take a hot shower for granted again. I even had joy doing laundry and dishes last night! What once seemed like a chore, was joyful because of a renewed perspective. As we enter this Lenten season, I encourage you to count your blessings! I encourage you to take time to reflect on all God has provided and ways He has shown up even in hard moments. His promises to never leave us are so comforting. May you and your family experience

This time of year, is always about reflecting and the hope of a new year, new routines, and new results! In short, we make goals and ways to achieve those goals. I am no different. For 2026 I have a few goals I am working on personally and professionally. I’ll start with the personal side… I have three I am looking to achieve. 1. Read through the entire Bible with my church on their app (Crossroads). 2. Make 2 new friends to get to know on a deeper level locally. 3. Do 26 pushups, 26 sit-ups daily and run/walk/bike 26 miles a month logged as exercise. On the professional side… 1. Create 10 new client relationships centered around delivering an advice centric experience with our team. 2. Develop 3 relationships that yield accountability, referrals and community with other kingdom-minded business owners locally. 3. Deliver at least 2 keynote workshops on financial topics relevant to our community and their needs. My team and I are working diligently on these initiatives. We will evaluate time to ensure the proper allotment is set aside to yield the results desired. I am excited for 2026! How about you? Share below some of your goals so we can pray over yours and be an advocate in the coming year!

I can still hear my grandpa leading the church in worship of many hymns, including my favorite hymn, "How Great Thou Art"! This time of year, we often sing songs that have been sung for a very long time and deeply rooted in theology. The nostalgia is not lost on me, and often it brings me back to certain moments. In fact, I have always loved music because of the ability to reminisce and recall moments that impacted me. I am sure this is why music is involved in so many areas of life because of the way music speaks to our emotions and can cause emotional responses. Emotions are good and necessary but if left unchecked can lead us astray! That is the importance of having our emotions complement our logic. I love every year singing, "O Holy Night" and the emotional response to seeing a room of candles burning bright to that song! As we step into the Christmas season and story, take some time to reflect on the emotions felt and response required. There is a reason so many of these hymns have stood the test of time and impact this generation and the generations previously. Merry Christmas from all of us at Rooted Financial Advisors! What are hymns that you enjoy this time of year? Are there hymns you sing or hear and take you to a moment in time or memory? Share below some of your favorites for us to reminisce together!
