About Renae Etka
As a lifetime resident of the Bloomington-Normal area, I’m proud to serve Thrivent members in the community I’ve always called home. With a bachelor's degree in public health from Illinois State University, I bring a people-first approach to financial guidance; prioritizing trust, understanding, and long-term impact.

Outside of Work
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, traveling, golfing, and giving back to the community. Service is a core value of mine, and I’m proud to serve on the Board of Home Sweet Home Ministries, where I help support their mission of restoring lives and strengthening families. Pictured to the right are my five wonderful grandchildren, each one a joyful reminder of what truly matters.
Profile Summary
I create purpose-driven financial plans to help individuals and families align their finances with their values. Focused on education, empowerment, and long-term success, I guide clients in retirement, investments, and legacy planning.
What do you do at Thrivent
Step 1 – Get to Know You - There's no need to bring anything to our first meeting. This conversation, whether held via Zoom or in person at my office, is designed to help us understand your financial goals and concerns. It's also a chance for you to get to know who we are, how we work, and how we can support you on your financial journey.
Step 2 – Fact-Finding Meeting – My goal is to understand your financial situation and help you achieve your objectives. To help with this, we'll take a closer look at your current financial situation. To make the most of your time, I'll provide you with a checklist of documents to bring. This helps ensure our conversation is as productive and efficient as possible.
Step 3 – Analysis – This is where being part of The Heart of Illinois Advisors truly sets us apart. With our team, we review and dive deep into the information to help answer some critical questions
- Is your retirement on track?
- How should your portfolio be managed as you near retirement?
- Have you addressed tax treatment of your assets?
- How to handle pensions and when to start Social Security?
- How much can you safely withdraw monthly?
- What things can throw off the plan, and can we protect against any of them?
Step 4 – Evaluation Meeting – During this meeting, we will review the solutions we have for the questions listed above and outline a path forward to allow you to decide how our relationship will move forward. We find that meeting at least annually to review progress after we complete the initial process is as necessary as the process itself, so we plan to see you at least once a year to stay current with you.
