LinkedIn World - Meet my chaotic dog, Reese. Over the last couple of weeks I've been sharing some of my takeaways from a recent business development trip with Thrivent, and today I want to highlight the importance of a support system. While I was out having fun in Atlanta, my wife, @MichaelaLeist, was at home cleaning up chewed‑through pillows and blankets after Reese—our 10‑month‑old, separation‑anxiety‑filled doggo—had her way with them. Talk about some TOP-NOTCH support. I am beyond grateful for the care and intentionality my wife extends to me and others every day. And as a business owner who's building up his practice, having a rock-solid support system in her is incalculable. So, take a moment to appreciate the support in your life. Whether a spouse, a friend, your parents, or whomever, if you haven't in a while, make sure they know how appreciated they are. Without support, doing just about anything—especially caring for a stressed‑out dog—can be really tough. If you're feeling bold, shout out someone in the comments who's supported you! Or send me cute animal pics. Either works. :) #BDC26 #DogsofLinkedIn

A few weeks ago, I was reminded of why I became a financial advisor. Earlier this month, I had the privilege of traveling to Atlanta to attend my first Business Development Conference with Thrivent. #BDC26 Three days filled to the brim with general sessions, networking opportunities, and keynote speakers. I had a lot of takeaways, but one of the most prominent concepts I walked away with was to "Know Your Why." I'll say it again. Know. Your. Why. Simon Sinek has a great book called "Start with Why," where he breaks down the importance of articulating your "Why" - the reason behind what you do. Your "Why" transcends your "what." It's more personal, approachable, and trustworthy. Knowing - and starting - with your "Why" creates space for community and belonging. If you haven't read it yet, here's your sign! #freepublicity @SimonSinek While in Atlanta, I was reminded to get back to my "Why" for joining Thrivent. For me, it comes down to people. In my role, I get the opportunity to do life with people, understand their goals and values, and walk alongside them through whatever life brings. Like many advisors, it can be easy to get caught up in the noise - metrics, paperwork, NIGOs (iykyk) - and forget why I started. Life can be hard sometimes. Same with finances. Managing money, preparing for retirement, and understanding taxes can feel overwhelming. My "Why" is to help bring peace, clarity, and purpose to people and their finances. If you've made it this far, well done, but I encourage you to take some time today to reflect on your "Why." You'll be more centered, purpose-oriented, and more intentional in what you do. So, carve out 10 minutes, grab a cup of coffee, and think. If you want to learn more about my "Why," or talk through yours, send me a message! If you know your "Why," shout it out below!
