As 2025 comes to an end, I cannot help but reflect not only on this year but the last 2 years. See, 2024 nearly broke me… I don’t talk about that part of it much, but it’s true. Walker’s journey in those first 9 months of life was scary to say the least. Full of ups and downs… twists and turns… truly a roller coaster ride of emotions. I will not forget the night I fell to my knees and cried out to God. I prayed for strength… the strength to keep moving forward… the strength to be there for Walker and Mandy… the strength to make sure Presley, Faith, and Will all felt heard and seen… the strength to keep my family together despite basically living in two sperate places most of the year… For the first time, I truly gave up trying to be in control and gave it to God. As most do in these situations, I asked for a sign… a small sign just to know that He heard me…. He responded immediately that evening. A friend pulled me to the side and told me how proud he was of my resolve… he didn’t know about earlier… I knew immediately God was there saying, “I’ve got you.” That moment would begin to shape the rest of 2024 and 2025. I began to take leaps of faith with my career. Working full-time and getting licensed. For 6 months, I averaged 4-5 hours of sleep each night. God provided the strength I needed. Coming into 2025, our medical team wasn’t sure what Walker’s journey would look like. He was clearly behind on his development. We weren’t sure if Walker was going to be able to crawl. Would he ever be able to stand or walk? 2025 has been filled with an overwhelming number of appointments, including trips to Vanderbilt and Philadelphia. Yes, it was difficult, but God… God continued to provide. Walker crawled… Walker stood… Walker walks with assistance… God continues to provide the strength we need. Plenty of days have passed where I wondered how Mandy can keep going, how Walker continues to do everything with his big smile, and how can I continue to shoulder the burden. I cannot count the times I have heard someone say “I don’t know how you do it,” but there’s no doubt that God continues to lift us up. If 2025 has taught me anything, it is that God is in control. I have learned to relinquish the control and have faith that He will provide. All I have to do is keep waking up, keep pushing forward, and continue to give Him the glory. 2024 nearly broke me… 2025 gave me strength and purpose… so, here’s to 2026! "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10
