Last month, I had the chance to spend a few days near Thrivent’s home office in Minneapolis for the Thrivent Women’s Conference and I left feeling energized, challenged, and very grateful for the women I get to work alongside in this career. 💙
One of my favorite moments was hearing from Olympic medalist Jessie Diggins. She talked about what she calls the “pain cave” and shared a perspective that has stuck with me:
“It isn’t where you go to suffer, but to grow.”
Whew. I think most of us can probably name a few “pain caves” in our own lives. 😉 The seasons that stretch us, challenge our confidence, or force us to do something we aren’t quite sure we can do yet can also be the exact places where so much growth happens.
Beyond the speakers and sessions, one of the best parts was simply being surrounded by so many incredible women. Catching up with longtime friends, making new ones, sharing ideas, laughing a lot, and learning from one another.
Since it is Women’s Equality Day today, it feels like the perfect time to look back on this experience. I’m grateful for the women who paved the way for us, the women who continue to encourage and challenge one another today, and the opportunity we have to keep opening doors for the women who come after us.
Here’s to supporting one another, growing through the hard things, and continuing to make room at the table. 💜
