About Erica Cantrell

When I co-founded Clarity Financial Planning Group, my goal was simple: create a financial planning experience that feels personal, thoughtful, and genuinely focused on the client, not on products or transactions. Alongside my dad, I wanted to build a firm grounded in trust, clear guidance, and long-term relationships where advice is tailored, conversations are honest, and decisions are made with the future in mind.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional, I am committed to high ethical standards including those outlined in the CFP Board's Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct. The CFP® designation represents comprehensive training across all areas of financial planning and an ongoing commitment to professional growth. What that means for you is straightforward: thoughtful advice, clear explanations, and recommendations built around your goals.

Much of my work focuses on clients who have spent years saving and are now approaching or already in retirement. While building wealth is important, the real challenge often comes later: turning those savings into reliable income. Accumulating assets and creating a sustainable retirement income plan are very different disciplines. I specialize in helping clients distribute their wealth in a tax-efficient way, with strategies designed to support their lifestyle, reduce unnecessary taxes, and help reduce the risk of outliving their money, so they can enter retirement with a sense of confidence.

For me, financial planning isn’t just a profession; It’s deeply personal. I take pride in helping clients move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling secure, informed, and in control of their financial future. My goal is for every client to feel confident in their decisions and in retirement. I’m committed to continually expanding my knowledge so I can serve clients at the highest level, and I truly can’t imagine doing anything else.

Outside of Work

My journey has taken me from California to Idaho, where I’m grateful to be closer to my family. Outside of work, I love traveling, especially internationally, and having the opportunity to experience different cultures and see new parts of the world. I also have a deep love for National Parks, and I’ve been lucky to share that with my sister and brother-in-law. Together, we’ve visited several parks, and my goal is to see every National Park in the U.S. One of my favorite experiences was a two-week safari in Kenya after earning my CFP® certification. It was an incredible trip and a meaningful way to celebrate a milestone that meant a lot to me.

I’ve always enjoyed learning and growing, and that shows up in a lot of how I spend my time. I was also a collegiate rower, competing in the women’s 8 for four years in college, and it’s something I still miss. That experience played a big role in shaping my discipline and work ethic. These days, I enjoy getting outside, especially walking the Greenbelt, and taking advantage of time outdoors whenever I can. I also stay engaged through a leadership book study and a Thrivent study group, which give me the opportunity to keep learning and bring new ideas back to my clients and my team.
