Meet Doug
My wife, Amy, and I moved to Tacoma to attend Pacific Lutheran University almost 30 years, and have lived in Tacoma ever since. We have been happily married for 23 years. We’re the parents of three wonderful children, who attend Central Washington University, Stadium High School, and Hilltop Heritage Middle School. We have been very involved in the Hilltop area of Tacoma and our church community, where we have helped lead youth ministry, supported families involved with foster care, mentored teens, taught kids church, and hosted a weekly community group in our home.
Why Thrivent
I am so thankful to have a career that is also a calling. Everyone has financial goals and needs, and those needs change as they enter into new seasons of life. I love that my job allows me to walk with people through these different stages, and help them navigate complicated and sometimes daunting financial aspects of their lives. I help people identify their goals, and help provide a plan to accomplish their dreams.
I love that Thrivent believes that money is not a goal – but a tool – that allows people to live life with greater purpose and to focus on things that matter most. Generosity is a core value at Thrivent, and I love getting to see clients giving back to their communities and living generously.
What to Expect
The very first meeting consists of getting to know our clients – discovering who they are, what their goals are, and identifying their values.
We then take our clients through a process of identifying their goals in more detail, and determining what aspects of a plan are already in place.
After reviewing data and creating a comprehensive financial plan, we make recommendations to our clients, and they choose the path they would like to take moving forward.
